About
Hello. My name is Jen and I’ve worked with people of all ages and from many walks of life for more than 30 years in the fields of health, arts and education.
Growing up in the North East of Scotland, I was influenced by the ancient oral music tradition. At its root this is the art of tuning in to presence-based-communication – and the implicit relational connection within that. As a young woman I explored this within the filed of arts, meeting people in many different countries as an early member of the Battlefield Band. Building on relational connection, I went on to study drama, voice and movement at the RSAMD (Scotland’s Conservatoire, RCS)
Living in South Australia for most of my 30’s, I trained and lectured in cultural studies then moved into applying principles of wellbeing as a community health worker. This progressive health work valued what interpersonal neuroscience now recognises as crucially important ‘right brain to right brain’ communication. It also gave me the opportunity to pioneer the growing field of arts and health.
Returning to Scotland in the mid 90’s, meditation, somatic inquiry and simplified living became a central part of my own growth journey which I incorporated into experiential groupwork and holistic organisational development.
My interest in working with body-based awareness and communication led to the development of a one-to-one therapeutically-oriented Authentic Voice practice in the 90’s.

My background in community health and working with the embodied voice led to the study of Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute which offers a depth training in mindfulness based psychotherapy which integrates an embodied, trauma oriented approach with relational neuroscience grounded in ancient Eastern wisdom.
